BOOK NOOK will meet in the Parlor on Sunday, June 3 at 4:00 p.m. to read Miss Julia Raises the Roof by Ann B Ross. Nine copies are available at the Ouachita Public Library. This is the latest chapter in Miss Julia’s adventures. All are welcome.
SUMMER SCHOOL for senior adults is five informative class sessions, taught by experts in their field, on topics that can be confusing and daunting to many, especially when a crisis occurs. Classes will be held in Room 6 from 10am-11:15am with an option to go to lunch afterwards for further discussion and fellowship.

AARP SMART DRIVER COURSE is being offered on Tuesday, June 19th from 8:30am-12:30pm in Classroom #6. The Smart Driver Course teaches drivers (50+ years old and older) how to boost safety awareness, refresh and improve driving skills, minimize crash risks, increase confidence, prolong mobility, and maintain independence. Most car insurance companies give a discount for a certain number of years so contact your company about the discount amount and length of time the discount covers. Cost is $15 for AARP members (must provide member- ship number) and $20 for non-AARP members and includes a guidebook to be used in class. RSVP to Nannette Flowers with a check made payable to AARP by Sunday, June 10th.

THIRD ANNUAL ADULT VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – “Tell Me The Stories” will be held Monday-Wednesday, July 16th-18th, from 10:30am-1:00pm (lunch included) at Lea Joyner UMC, 4390 Old Sterlington Road. Rev. Dave and Annette Fortuna will be our leaders this year. Dave is a gifted storyteller, humorist, and Bible teacher. Annette is a talented musician, Bible teacher, and singer. “FOUR DAYS OF THANKS” CELEBRATORS CONFERENCE, Oct. 22-25th in Pigeon Forge, is a gathering of 4,000 Christian Adults from all over the US, and this year will honor those who serve in their churches, communities and country. During the week, you will hear messages by David Jeremiah and Phil Waldrep, comedy by Chonda Pierce, concerts by the Gaither Vocal Band, Veritas, Selah, and Worship Leader, Charles Billingsley. On Wed., George W. Bush will pay a special tribute to our veterans. RSVP to Nannette Flowers with a $125 check made payable to FUMC by June 10th if you wish to attend the conference only and make your own lodging and transportation plans.
THE CHANCEL CHOIR has been invited to sing at the Paris Choral Festival and commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and Liberation of France July 2 - 9, 2019. This is a great honor for our Chancel Choir to have received this invitation. It is with great joy that they have accepted the invitation and now begin the planning and rehearsing for this wonderful opportunity. The choir will sing and lay a wreath at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial near Omaha beach. site of the June 6, 1944 invasion. They will then travel on to Paris for the Choral Festival and perform in the La Madeleine church built by Napoleon during his reign. The church was heavily bombed during the liberation but was rebuilt following the war. Though this is a working trip for the choir there will be time for seeing the sights as well. It is open not only to choir members but church members as well. If you would like to join the choir for this wonderful trip, please see Rev. Alexander for more information.
OWL SALSAS AND JELLIES are for sale from the table located by the church office door. Jelly is $6 and salsa is $5 a jar. Proceeds benefit the United Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston.
