It’s time to register for bible school and you can now do it online! Please go to the church website and look for VBS under the events tab to register! Bible School will be June 20-24 from 8:30-11:30 ages 4-5th grade. Of course we are counting on our awesome church family to help in any way possible! GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life's most difficult experiences. GriefShare helps people find hope and healing after the death of a friend or loved one. A new group is starting on Wednesday nights at 5:30 p.m. at the First West Counseling Center Annex building. OWL Salsas or Jellies are available for sale on the table by the office for your Memorial Day picnics. Try the “Red, Hot, and Blue Jelly” over cream cheese. Salsa is $5 a jar and jelly is $6 a jar with proceeds benefitting the Ruston United Methodist Children’s Home. Want to help make salsa/jelly? Join us on Friday, May 27th as we take the church van to the OWL Center in Dubach. Depart church parking lot (choir side) at 8:30am (and pick up West Monroe volunteers at 8:40am from the library on Cheniere Drew Road) to make salsa in the morning and the Hootin' Hot Pepper Jelly in the afternoon. “Good Ole Memories” Celebrators Conference, is Oct. 17-20th in Pigeon Forge, TN. Hear messages by Max Lucado, David Jeremiah, and Phil Waldrep; concerts by The Gaither Vocal Band, Michael W. Smith, Steve Green, and harpist Greg Buchanan; comedy by Dennis Swanberg; and worship music by Charles Billlingsley. We will depart after worship services on Oct. 16th and return the 21st. Approximate cost is $500 which will include conference registration, five nights hotel (double occupancy) and breakfasts, and transportation. RSVP to Nannette White with a $25 nonrefundable deposit check made payable to FUMC with roommate in the memo by Sunday, June 5th.
Family Promise of Ouachita is an organization that works with homeless families, and will be hosting its annual fundraiser, Chefs for a Cause, July 12th. We can partner with this vital ministry by bringing our gently used dinner & salad plates, flatware, including dinner & salad forks, teaspoons, and knives, pitchers for water, and 16 ounce Mason jars to the main church kitchen Sunday, May 29th and Sunday, June 5th. Sets are not necessary as individual pieces are fine. Our communion rail offering Sunday, June 5th, will be designated toward this event also. Contact Chris (325-7335) for more information.
