Served in the Fellowship Hall $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 10 with a $24 family maximum. On the menu this week: Red beans & rice, cornbread, salad and dessert. WILL YOU BE JOINING US FOR SUPPER?

NEW • ADVENT STUDY WITH PASTOR LYNN - Because of Bethlehem by Max Lucado. Begins November 29 in the Fellowship Hall. Book available for $10.

• MEN’S BIBLE STUDY - Facilitated by Chris Rizzo and held in room 12 (Generation Hope Classroom), will be studying Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman. 

• WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY - Facilitated by Megan McClanahan and held in the Garden Room, will be studying Before Amen by Max Lucado. 

• RISE LIFE (7TH - 12TH GRADE) - Held in the Youth Room. 

• BRIDGE (4TH, 5TH & 6TH GRADE) - Meet in the K2 Room. 

• KID’S KINGDOM (K - 3RD GRADE) - Meet in the K2 Room.

• NURSERY - Provided for ages 6 weeks to 4 years. 3 and 4 year olds participate in their own Bible lesson and activities. All nursery children meet in the 3 year old classroom.

BECAUSE OF BETHLEHEM Advent Study lead by Pastor Lynn will begin on Wednesday, November 29. If you would like to purchase the book ($10) please contact the church office. 

 

MAYHAW AND BLUEBERRY JELLIES, made by our FUMC volunteers and fruit picked by our youth, along with other OWL salsas and jellies are available for purchase at the table located by the church office door for your holiday gift giving. Jelly is $6 and salsa is $5 a jar. Proceeds benefit the United Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston. 

 

50+ ADULTS “Meet & Greet”. Gathering for the church New York City trip is tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in the church library. Please bring your travel documents. 

 

ADVENT & CHRISTMAS PREPARATION - Help us prepare the church for Advent and Christmas on November 27, 28 & 30 at 1:00 p.m. Much must be done and many are needed. Please come help the worship committee get everything set. Especially needed are strong muscles. For more information contact Rev. Kem Alexander at 325-7335. 

 

CANASTA GROUP is not meeting in November or December.  They will resume play on Monday, January 22.

 

SOUNDS AND TASTES OF THE SEASON will be Sunday, December 3 at 6:00 p.m. Start Advent off with a beautiful concert by our Chancel Choir, J Force, Westminister Bells, and special soloist. Followed by all of your favorite holiday foods under the stars in Gloria Garden. 

 

LIFE SHARE BLOOD CENTERS will be in the west parking lot during all three services on Dec. 3 for our fourth quarter blood drive. Please take the time today to donate! Blood supplies drop during the holidays because people get busy with holiday activities and put off donating, yet the need for blood never diminishes. Give this gift of life this Christmas and be a donor!

 

THE ANGEL TREE is up in the Great Hall. The gifts given go to the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home. We have been asked to spend between $20 and $50 on each gift. Please leave UNWRAPPED gifts in the original bag along with the receipt and the angel card under the angel tree. If a gift card is given please put the dollar amount on the card itself. Donations of gift bags and tissue are welcome. Please return your gift to the church no later than December 3. Each year you have all been very generous and your continued support is a blessing! 

 

COME WATCH “The Star: The story of the First Christmas” December 10 at 3:00 p.m. as a church at Tinseltown. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased after worship or from the church office. 

 

PASTOR SHAWN will hold an informational meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 10, about our international mission to Chile scheduled for May 2018. Please stop by to find out more about our global work to strengthen the body of Christ. 

 

OBERAMMERGAU PASSION PLAY informational meeting will be held on Sunday, December 17 at 12:15 p.m. in the Garden Room. Please RSVP to Nannette Flowers at nflowers@fumcmla.com as a light lunch will be served. 

 

BE A PART OF OUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TO EASTER! We are gathering devotions for a church wide devotional guide for this upcoming Lent. If you would like to contribute to this please contact Olivia Pruett at the church office.

 

FLOOD RELIEF UPDATE: Praise God for the $11,869 raised in order to help with flood relief over the last few months. Our half of the costs for the clean up buckets sent to UMCOR totaled $7650.45. We have $4218.55 remaining to send people into the mission field to bring the love and hope of Christ. Thank you for your faithfulness! 

 

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLACE A POINSETTIA in memory or in honor of someone or if you would like to make a donation to Christmas Beauty in honor or memory of someone, you may do so by stopping in the Great Hall and filling out an order form. Poinsettias are $10 each. Deadline to order is December 11. 

 

INTERESTED IN JOINING FUMC MONROE? Our next First Connection Class will be November 26 at 4:00 p.m. in the church parlor. The first step to membership at FUMC Monroe is to attend First Connection. Call Linda in the church office & register. Childcare is provided upon request.
